I had no idea there were so many great blogs out there that covered similar topics and content as what I’m trying to accomplish here with Geek Stew. In addition to my 4 shiny new text books, I’ve added a few new blogs to my reading list that I’ll be checking out regularly. You should see links to them in the sidebar if you’re reading this post from the actual site.
Here’s the list, along with links to their 3 most popular posts. (StudyHacks didn’t have any listed.) As an added FREE BONUS to my loyal readers, I have also provided links for you to subscribe if you’re interested.
In my opinion, the Internet is a team sport. When interaction happens across blogs of a similar genre, it seems that the content improves. Sure, there is the risk of everyone starting to write about the same things, but that hasn’t ever stopped the local news channels and tabloid TV programs from reporting on the same stories as everyone else. Each writer has their own personal style and adds something unique. If the authors of these other sites will have me, I would love to join them at the table of information-sharing. Here is what I will bring to the dinner party:
So hide the kiddies. Uncle Alan is coming over.
Hi Alan,
Great to see another quality blog out there touching upon student productivity issues.
We’ll have to fight it out, however, to determine who gets the title as the biggest geek. I may not have the thick glasses, but I am studying computers at MIT…

“We’ll have to fight it out, however, to determine…”
Cal, them’s fightin’ words. If there really was such a challenge, I wonder what the events would be.
1. HTML coding
2. Mismatching your clothes the fastest
3. Tetris Super Bowl
Any other ideas?
There are quite a few student-related websites actually.
Like Cal, I don’t have thick glasses, but I’m a geek, too, although some would debate that with me. I’m not studying at MIT, just a little college down on the gulf coast.
Who can produce a bigger list of flaws in the plot of the new JJ Abrams movie Cloverfield.
@Sydney- Thanks for stopping by. Looks like I’m the only one around here with bad vision. Do you have any ideas for our pending “Biggest Geek” competition?
@Cal - I just barely heard about that movie. I’ll have to check it out. It sure sounded lame.
Alan,
I pretended once in the seventh grade that I wasn’t a geek. We all knew it was a lie and I gave up and embraced geekdom. It’s a lot more interesting being like this.
I agree with you that the Internet is a team sport. Having thousands of independent thinkers sifting through the information and bringing the most interesting/important bits to light has to be better than a dozen talking heads telling everyone what to think.
I wrote a post a while back about ASU’s sustainability degree–ASU jumped on that before the current regime was admitting Al Gore might be onto something. So I’m a big ASU fan.
And thank you for including Educated Nation in your list.

Alexa,
Glad to see you’re happy with who you are. And I’m even gladder (Yes, that’s a word. It was just invented.) that you’re a fan of ASU.
Just read the post you referred to in your comment. I didn’t even know we offered that here. Not too shabby.
Hope to see you around.
